On my channel, I teach the basics of gypsy jazz music and beyond. It's basically about the guitar and how to play jazz manouche and old time jazz music the proper way. Beside the lessons I offer live music and performances with great players from all over the world, that share the love for Django Reinhardt's music.
New to gypsy jazz? This is the place to dig in! 😉

This was taken at the Medio Rhein Erft in Bergheim. The song is called "Paquito". Robin Nolan was the first major player of the gypsy jazz scene I ever met person. This was in 2010 in Wroclaw, Poland. To me @GypsyJazzSecrets Robin Nolan has incredible elegant chops, tasteful and groovy and an unique own phrasing. In 2022 he appeared as a guest on my cd: Sven Jungbeck Invites. For tourdates and ...

Sven Jungbeck - guitar, Volker Kamp - bass, Robin Nolan - guitar @GypsyJazzSecrets recorded live in Bergheim, Medio Rhein Erft on Feb 2, 24. This song was inspired by Elvis' ballad: They remind me too much of you It's great to play with Robin, he was the first cat of the scene, that I met in person. That was 2010 in Wroclaw, Poland, after opening up the show for him with my former quintet, D'Ar...

This was taken from a show in Bergheim, where I invited @JoschoStephan and @GypsyJazzSecrets Robin Nolan. I composed this song in a hotel room in Palencia and dedicated the song to the city! I hope you enjoy! This was ,by the way, the last concert with my beloved Casteluccia guitar, that got smashed at an airport a week later. R.I.P. It was my favorite instrument and was pre owned by the great ...

so it's all about looking at your fingers? No symbols or graphics? I just wanna know what those two vamp chords are.
4:04 "With my ringfinger" 🖕
Great Video Sven! Have you ever considered to play it like the actual Django Reinhardt? I only ask as I suffer from Dupuytren's (Viking's) disease and have the same finger restraints as he did. Thanks again for your expertise and direction.
hello my friend you are number one of the song at django l ali pierrot
❤🎶❤ I heard a lot of good guitarists during a week, but the music of Sven, who is a virtuoso who plays with heart and soul, still speaks to me just a much 👍 👏👏👏 Many thanks 🙏🙏🙏
Un de mes airs préférés. Quelle belle interprétation !
A real gift for our Sunday...great thanks, indeed !!
Sven, the chord shape you are showing at 9:25 is so difficult to do on a spanish guitar because the neck is much thicker. Why not just do a regular B7 bar chord (which contains the exact same notes in the same order)? Your lessons are worth gold! Thank you so much
I started practicing your chords, but I had to stop because I have a cramp in my forearm, wrist and fingers... 😟
trop bien
Sven can you please upload this song as music backup for us to play..
One of the most difficult tasks when playing such a beautiful melody as this, is to stay ON the melody, and not to be distracted by technique, and when this task is achieved as it has been done here by a Master, the result is pure, and will be loved by guitarists for the next hundred years and longer. Thank You Sven.
@@anthonywilliams6764 thanks, I tried to keep the melody close to the actual vocals! All the best, Sven
worderfull, which guitar is this?
Gorgeous!!
oH, MY god!!! THESE CHORDS!!! WHERE THYE HELL DID YOU FIND SUCH BEAUTIFUL CHORDS???? Incredible. Thanks so much

Ficou bom demais! Parabéns 🇧🇷
Beautiful arrangement from the master of blending vintage & modern harmonies. Can’t wait to start working on this.

That guitar finish is beautiful. Nice playing too. 😉
Arrivo sempre dalle tue parti, con estrema simpatia! Complimenti come sempre!
I've been following you for few years now and I think you really improved your play, especially regarding the quality of your sound and the maturity of your solos' construction. Well done !
You're an amazing player!
also, the guitar is gorgeous.
I learned a lot from your guitar group..improvation..😊😊😊
Nice modern update.
Awesome job guys ❤
Love it! Surprise major chord ending!
What brand of guitar are you playing?

Ich begrüße dich wie lange braucht man als ungefähr zu lernen?
Hi, kann ich nicht sagen, übt ja jeder anders und anderes. Ich spiel seit 28 Jahren Gitarre. LG
Bellissimo !! Bravo Sven !!❤
your technique on this one is very impressive, gonna have to steal some of those juicy licks
Another gem Sven. Lovely version 👌
Thanks man, hope you’re good! Looking forward to Edinburgh 🤙🏻💪🏻
One of my very Jazz favorites to listen to and to play.. really nicely done Sven!✨ Lots of nice tasteful guitar runs that you played. And hey is that your new guitar you're playing? I believe you had said in a video a while back,, yoy got a new gypsy guitar? It's a very nice guitar, I love the wood grain finish! Have a blessed Sunday🎸🐦
Thanks a lot! It is a new guitar, and it’s really great! Jürgen Volkert builds just great guitars! Have a nice one!🤙🏻

Nice played...i always follow you and your partner..
Very nice playing! I find your guitar so beautiful, the wood, the pattern, the color, the sound! Who made it?
Hi, this one was made by Jürgen Volkert! Thank you 🙏
Black orpheus has a mysterious, romantic vibe. I love this song, and you rendition makes it even more wonderful! Thank you!
Absolutely this. There's a meandering slyness to the song and Sven nails it - like the song's lying to you but doing it beautifully.
Sehr schönes, geschmackvolles und abwechslungsreiches Spiel😉
Vielen Dank!
Why can't I do that??? It makes me want give up on the guitar...sometimes. My brain is not wired for improvisation, it seems. That was absolutely beautiful!
Hey, don't give up,,, just keep it fun, have fun playing. We've all felt like giving up on guitar from time to time.. 👌🐦
Improvisation is a lot about reproduction, but on the fly. Like talking. Since music isn’t most people’s mother tongue, it’s a life long process, I’m always just on my way to the next step 😅 just keep doing it as often as possible and try to have fun as often as possible 😃
@@SvenJungbeck I understand that intellectually, but it can be frustrating because progress comes so slowly. I often compare improvisation to conversation and learning another language…which I have done, I speak fairly fluent Japanese since I was about 19. I studied hard when I young, but the key was constantly practicing. With guitar, I just don’t get much opportunity to “speak” it. Thanks for your encouragement.
We often , dont give the basics their fair share of importance (ex: we never run licks/phrases/chords through all the 12 keys, or we dont practice our triads and arpegios enough ) 1 if you re not familiar with the key terms of Guitar , then you lack knowledge , 2 start slow and always be attentive to what you do . 3 what he does isnt impossible you just have to develop a solid approach to your learning . (Because there are manyconcepts out there you should discover , and choose what you like best ) 3 when you learn theory always apply it to the blues because its the easiest way to start
Beautiful
Très belle interprétation de cette superbe composition de Luis Bonfa 👌Bravo et bon week-end, Sven👏🎶❤
Merci beaucoup!
I have been working on this tune for a month or two. Thanks for the ideas. I have been approaching it from a Barry Harris point of view because of the G# in the first phrase being a b6th. It is interesting to hear it with a more Gypsy style. I have been a big fan of yours for a while and I was very happy when this popped up because of my subscribed bell notification. Thanks so much.
Sehr schön Sven !! Toll gespielt und die Gitarre klingt himmlisch 😊
Danke dir, ja das Instrument ist toll! Schönen Abend, dir!
